SHELL unfolds in a European countryside during World War II. A young civilian woman in the throes of a terrible loss bears witness to a tragic encounter between an injured American paratrooper and a German soldier. In her, we see the numbing effects of repeated senseless violence. An emotional caring human being is left at the end little more than a shell.
